Northwest Girls Soccer Team Punches Ticket To State

(Grand Island, NE) - The Northwest girl's soccer team made sure they weren't going to miss out on this year's state soccer tournament on Saturday with a convincing 4-0 win over York in the district final match played at Viking Field to advance to the state tournament next week in Omaha. It will be the second trip for the Vikings in school history after going to state for the first time in 2022.

Northwest would get two goals on the day from Anna Keller as she scored at the 12-minute mark in the first half and would add another in the second half. The Vikings would also get a goal scored from Lupe Sanchez at the 20-minute mark in the first half set up by an assist pass from Evie Keller. Northwest would have a 3rd goal of the match at the 57-minute mark on a corner kick from junior Leah Carlson that connected with the header goal from junior Taylor Brown. Anna Keller would then add the final goal just before the five-minute mark left in the match to secure the win for Northwest.
