Millard North Makes Late Comeback To Down GISH Baseball

(Grand Island, NE) - Grand Island lost to Millard North 10-6 on Friday even though they once led by five runs. Broxton Barrientos collected three hits in four at bats in the loss. Barrientos singled in the third inning, singled in the fourth inning, and singled in the seventh inning. The Mustangs got on the board in the first inning after Ben Peters tripled, scoring one run.

A single by Barrientos gave the Islanders the lead, 3-1, in the bottom of the third. Millard North flipped the game on its head in the top of the seventh, scoring seven runs on three hits to take a 10-6 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Nolan Fee on a full count that drove in two. Alexander Michaud earned the win for Millard North. The starting pitcher gave up two hits and three runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking four. Sam Dinkelman took the loss for GI. They went two-thirds of an inning, allowing six runs on three hits, striking out none and walking two. Cohen Nelson started on the mound for Grand Island. The starting pitcher surrendered four hits and one run over four innings, striking out six and walking none. Jack Steenson collected two hits for GISH.

Jack Steenson collected two hits for Grand Island in four at bats. GI had patience at the plate, tallying six walks for the game. Ethan Foley and Ryan Coslor led the team with two bases on balls each. The Islanders were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Gage Gannon had the most chances in the field with 10. Millard North piled up nine hits in the game. Fee, Evan Hansen, and Peters each collected two hits for Millard North. Fee, Peters, Spencer Phillips, and C Mathiason each drove in two runs for Millard North Varsity Mustangs. The Mustangs turned two double plays in the game.
