(Grand Island, NE) - Grand Island Senior High baseball topped Lincoln Southeast 6-1 on Thursday at Ryder Park. GI got on the board in the third inning after Broxton Barrientos hit into a double play, but one run scored. Grand Island scored five runs on two hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Ryan Coslor singled, scoring one run, Ethan Foley drew a walk, scoring one run, and Barrientos doubled, scoring three runs.

Cohen Nelson earned the win for the Islanders. The starting pitcher gave up two hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out six and walking three. Gage Frederick took the loss for Lincoln Southeast. They went three innings, surrendering four runs (three earned) on two hits, striking out four and walking three. Dyllan Hinrichs tossed one inning of zero-run ball for Grand Island in relief. The reliever allowed one hit, striking out three and walking none.

Barrientos provided pop in the middle of the lineup and led GI with three runs batted in. They went 1-for-4 on the day. Barrientos, Coslor, and Jacob Albers each collected one hit for the Islanders. Zenon Sack paced GI with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing seven walks for the game. GI turned one double play in the game.
