C2-10 Boys Sub District: St Cecilia Ends GICC Boys Season

(Grand Island, NE) - The season would come to an end on Thursday night for the GICC boys basketball team as they would fall to Hastings St Cecilia in the C2-10 sub-district tournament final, 65-38. The first quarter would be back in forth for both squads with St Cecilia taking a 9-8 lead in the quarter break. GICC would tie the game at nine in the second quarter with a free throw. Then St Cecilia would answer with a three-pointer with 7:10 left in the period to take the lead for good. The Bluehawks would lead at the halftime break 28-19 not putting the game out of reach yet for the Crusaders until the second half would start as early turnovers led to points for St Cecilia in a 22-9 third quarter. The Bluehawks would win the fourth quarter 15-10. 

Central Catholic's season ends with a record of 12-11. The Crusaders do not have a senior on the team. Meanwhile with the win St Cecilia advances to the district final round where they are one win away from the state tournament with the finals pairings to be released soon by the NSAA.
