In a preview of their Lou Platte Conference matchups coming up on Tuesday, The St. Paul Wildcats hit the road Friday evening for a January 9th makeup game at the Bison Activities Dome against Central City.

On the Girls' side of things, the Bison got off to a hot start outscoring the Wildcats 9-2 in the first frame. St. Paul got things going offensively in the 2nd but Central City doubled them up in the quarter 12-6 to take a 21-8 lead into the halftime break. The Cats roared back in the 3rd coming alive with a 9-2 3rd quarter behind the tenacity of Gracie Kelley and unselfish ball play that cut the deficit to 6 at 23-17 going to the 4th quarter. St Paul would bring the contest within 4 points at 23-19 before Central City scored the games final 8 points to take the 31-19 victory. The loss drops St. Paul to 3-13 on the season while Central City improves to 13-4.

Senior Gracie Kelley took home Runza MVP honors with a solid 16 points playing the entire contest.

The Boys action saw a combined 30 points in the 1st quarter as Central City jumped out to an early 19-11 lead. The 2nd quarter proved to be the difference maker in the contest as the Bison outscored the Wildcats 13-4 taking a 32-15 lead at the halfway point of the contest. Both teams exchanged 11-9 quarters in the final 2 quarters as Central City takes the 17 point victory at 52-35. The loss drops St. Paul to 4-11 on the season while the Bison improve to 15-2. 

Sophomore Zandyn Weller grabs Runza MVP honors with solid defensive effort guarding Central City standout Ayden Zikmund. 

Both teams will meet up again in Deja Vu Fashion in the quarterfinals of the Lou Platte Conference Quarter-Finals Tuesday in Central City. If either/both Wildcat teams advance to the Semis the KRGI Sports Network will carry that contest. Our next official broadcast will be 2/6 @ Ravenna
